Charles Osborne Boxlock Project

A friend has commissioned me to restore a Charles Osborne Boxlock. It’s a nice example dated to around 1912. It has new barrels (not sleeved) that were fitted by an Oxford based company and very nicely done it is too. The figuring on the stock is really nice and I think it’ll come up nicely. There’s plenty to do, a really dented stock and nasty scratches on the forearm are going to take weeks to complete but I think I can get most of the knocks out…not all…but most…

It’s my first attempt at a boxlock and I look forward to learning about it!  Here are some pictures of thise nice gun (underneath all of the abuse and scratches!). The pictures with the turn screw are for reference that the darn thing is stuck on this gun too! Took half a day to get this out on my Harrison and Hussey.. /sigh…

Your friend has a very nice shot gun there. I look forward to watching it’s progress over the coming weeks to completion. Harrison and Hussey is very nice too.

Looks like a good candidate! I am sure you will do a first rate job, as you did on the “Hussy”…… :-) Enjoy AND Happy New Year!!

Thanks Greg, it’s quite a bit of work, but that’s the challenge I love. Keep you posted. Happy New Year to you too.
