Could you tell me the portions of Logwood and Copper Sulfate that you use for the boiling bath. I use a large handful of Logwood chips and
about 1/2 cup of Copper Sulfate, but I am concerned that is not the right portions.

I use copper sulphate as an etchin primer before the barrels are browned. I’ve never used it after the browning process. Just drop your barrels in logwood extract to make them black if that is what you want (after browning the last time).

I mis-sent that last e mail. I do not use Copper Sulfate with Logwood. I use ferrous sulfate which turns the logwood blacker and release the black film from the metal after boiling.
